Theresa Gibson

Theresa Gibson, the Center Director of North Raleigh KnowledgePoints, has a background that includes both teaching and tutoring. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from SUNY College at Buffalo, where she studied Mathematics Education and Theoretical Mathematics. She is passionate about lifelong learning and about ensuring quality education for all students.

Theresa’s teaching experience includes middle school and high school mathematics. Teaching students of various demographics, including those who are advanced, remedial, special needs and emotionally disturbed. She also has experience in teaching academic intervention for students that have struggled with state standards on examinations. She has tutored elementary- through college-level students for more than 10 years in multiple subject areas. Tutoring is the area of education where Theresa is most satisfied as she enjoys the visible growth in the students and the opportunity to forge a more personal acquaintance with both the family and the individual student.

Theresa has experience in education research and curriculum development. She is interested in learning and developing ways to better understand and meet the needs of students. She enjoys getting to know students and watching them develop into strong and confident individuals that enjoy learning and crave knowledge. Working with the Knowledge Points programs, materials, and motivational system students can regain confidence, become eager learners, and enrich the education that they receive in school. Her areas of focus involve fostering a comfortable and enjoyable learning environment, where students can find success and share in the success of others, while working at their own pace, with a familiar tutor, on a program specifically designed to meet their needs.
