Writing and Language Arts Program

Our Language Arts program focuses on the skills necessary for effective writing.  After an initial assessment, an individualized program is created to address the foundation skills students need to be better writers.  A program typically works on the following skills:

• mechanics and proofreading

• sentence and paragraph structures

• topic sentences and supporting details

• grammar concepts

• descriptive language use

• essay writing process: from brainstorming to final draft

• different essay types

• daily journal activities

Journal writing is incorporated into each session to build confidence and effectiveness in everyday writing.
