Angela K. Young, Ph.D.
Director of Learning

Angela K. Young obtained her B.S. at Fu-Jen Catholic University in Taipei, Taiwan, and her M.S. at Michigan State University, East Lansing, MI. She earned her Ph.D. from the University of Guelph, ON, Canada. As Director, Angela manages the day-to-day operations of the Learning Center, meets with parents to set objectives for students and to discuss tutoring programs. She also arranges the tutoring schedule each week. In addition, Angela leads the math tutoring program, and has extensive experience in teaching Middle & High School math, plus helping students prepare for SAT & ACT math exams.
Angela has previously worked in medical research and the chemical industry for over 20 years in Canada. She has also served as a volunteer Emergency Medical Technician and as a Tax Preparation Consultant on behalf of the AARP. Angela speaks Chinese, (Mandarin & Shanghainese), and English, and is also an enthusiastic competitive Bridge player.

Mrs. Madonna Ledbetter,
B.Ed., M.Ed.
Originally from Tennessee, Madonna Ledbetter is a very experienced educator with over 30 years of teaching experience. She earned her B.Ed. from Tennessee Technical University and her M.Ed. from the University of Miami. Madonna also has specialty post-graduate training from NYU and Rowan University in NJ. She has taught Grades K-12 in NJ, Florida, NC and Georgia, and is Certified as a Reading Specialist. An avid reader & gardener, Madonna has also been a Girl Scout Leader for 10 years and has also been a State Trainer of Leaders.
Mrs. Renee Jackson,
B.A., M.Ed.
Renee Jackson obtained her B.A. in Middle Childhood Education, with a concentration in Language Arts and Social Studies, and followed with her M.Ed. in Emotional and Behavioral Disorders. She has more than 9 years experience of teaching at Middle & Elementary Schools in Georgia, and her responsibilities have included regular students, high achievers and gifted students. Renee also has experience as a Yearbook Advisor, a Gifted Team Leader and as a Middle School Tennis Coach. She is a member of the Kappa Delta Phi Honors Fraternity.
Ms. Melissa Lawrence,
B.A., M.Ed.
A graduate of the University of Florida for both her bachelor’s and master’s degree, Missy Lawrence currently teaches Language Arts & Writing at a local high school. She has also served as a Gateway essay scorer for Gwinnett County Public Schools and is also certified as an Instructor for English as a Second Language courses. Missy has also enjoyed assignments as an Academic Summer Camp Instructor, teaching courses for 11th and 12th graders on how to write scientific research papers and make oral presentations

Barry Coates was born in England and came to the US in 1995. Angela and Barry have been married for 33 years and are now both US citizens. Barry holds a B.Sc. degree from the University of London, England, an M.S. from the University of Guelph, ON, Canada, and received his Master’s degree in Business from the University of Manchester, England. He spent more than 20 years in agri-business, working in senior positions in Canada, France and the United States. Barry speaks English and French.
Angela & Barry have 2 children, Stephanie & Nicholas, both of whom are physicians that trained at the University of Georgia, Athens, and the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta.
